Hitchin: One more day to go to donate to Christmas hamper appeal
Hitchin: One more day to go to donate to Christmas hamper appeal

You have one more day left to donate to the Hitchin Christmas Hamper Appeal.

Last year, the appeal supported local families and individuals with a food hamper filled with everything needed for a festive feast, plus extra store cupboard essentials and seasonal treats.

In total they delivered 151 hampers including gifts for 284 children.

This year, they need your help once more

The Covid crisis has changed the way the hamper appeal will look.

Instead of asking for food donations this year, organisers need to raise funds to provide a supermarket voucher for families, so they can buy the Christmas food essentials.

The appeal also needs to buy gifts for the children, as the usual way they collect gifts simply cannot happen this year.

The Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse Trust Fund said of their Hitchin Christmas hamper appeal: "The current crisis means more families are struggling to feed themselves.

"We aim to provide vouchers and gifts for over 200 families in our community."

Please donate to support your community at Christmas. Every penny helps.

For example, £1 buys a selection box for a child, while a donation of £5 sees a gift of a Christmas pudding and minces pies to a deserving family.

A donation of £10 buys a festive toy or gift for a child.

The Christmas Hamper Team is made up of: Rotary Club of Tilehouse, Hitchin Volunteer Army, Zeo Church, Round Table, Hitchin Partnership CIO, Hitchin Youth Trust, Hitchin Foodbank, Salvation Army of Stotfold.
