Have you seen Hitchin Town's brand new sign yet?

The Canaries' new fixture board on the corner of Bedford Road and Fishponds Road has emerged this week, after the club replaced the old one after high winds during the spring rendered it dangerous.

The new board has already attracted plenty of comments and is just another sign that the club is going in the right direction.

The new board comes fast on the heels of the club's new branding launch last week, which hit the headlines.

The progressive Top Field outfit received acclaim from many in and around the game for rebranding their badge in the style of another football club nicknamed the Canaries, namely Norwich City.

The move has been welcomed by the vast majority of football fans. Proof of the pudding is the impressive fact that more than £2,000 worth of newly-branded merchandise has already been sold.

Club secretary and stalwart, Roy Izzard said: "The response to the introduction of the new range of Hitchin Town merchandise in the online club shop since the announcement of our new brand image last week has been nothing short of stunning.

"Over £2000 of merchandise has already been purchased, with sales of our new shirt already almost reaching 50.

"Result of this unprecedented demand is that all initial stock that was brought in has been sold and dispatched, and we have already made a massive re-order to replace already exhausted popular sizes.

"For Chris Newbold, who started in the club shop in the year 2000 and spent ten years running the shop until 2010, the support and demand for the new range of merchandise is really gratifying.

"We've already sold more shirts than I would have sold in a season in the early years of this century."

The club added that the majority of supporters will have already received their orders well ahead of the Canaries anticipated delivery target times.

But, they add, for those of you that haven't yet received your orders, Hitchin Town still expect to be able to meet the 14-21 day target they've set for deliveries.

Tireless Canaries advocate Roy also hailed the tremendous amount of work and dedication that Stewart Curtis has put into making this project happen.

"Without his direction and vision it would not have materialised," said Roy, adding: "I am very grateful to him for his efforts."

The club also hope that more and more supporters and people in and around our town will continue to support the exciting new direction the Canaries are taking by considering investment in even just one small item.

For example, even a purchase of a small pin badge means vital money coming to the club at a time where every single penny absolutely counts due to the Covid pandemic halting vital match day revenues.

Apart from the new shirts, the club are also offering green polo shirts, two different types of Hitchin Town mugs, a new scarf and a new pin badge.

They will be looking to introduce new lines as we progress, but if you haven't already done so, why not visit their online shop here and take a look at what they have on offer.

Buying these items online is the only way of obtaining them at the current time.
