Stevenage travel to Devon to face a stuttering Exeter side in League Two at the weekend, in a bid to continue their encouraging form. writes Owen Rodbard.

Boro be looking to extend their impressive league results since the festive period, at St James's Park on Saturday.

After Tuesday night's schedule clash against Crawley was postponed due to cases of Covid among the Reds, Alex Revell's side will be raring to go against an inconsistent Grecians team.

Form

Boro come into the game with only one loss in five league games, winning two and drawing two in the process.

This upturn in form sees them sit in 22nd position, but crucially they have two games in hand over the teams around them.

Exeter's form tells a different story, however.

The Grecians haven't won in the league since mid December and will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Their last five games have resulted in one win, two draws and two losses.

Quite a headache for the Devon club after such a bright start to the season.

Early team news[.B[

There are no fresh injury concerns for Boro.

Expect to see Luke Norris and Matty Stevens play a part after their exciting cameos last weekend in the draw at the Lamex against Tranmere Rovers.

Terrence Vancooten and Scott Cuthbert will be looking to build on their impressive defensive partnership.

Danger men

Exeter are the top scorers in the league and boast excellent attacking prowess with Matt Jay hitting ten goals already this season.

Not far behind are Ryan Bowman on nine goals and Joel Randall with eight.

With such a freescoring side, Boro will need to keep their wits about them to prevent the end of their impressive defensive form.

Boro boss Alex Revell

"Ultimately we're going there full of confidence.

"We want to go there and put in a top performance like we have done in recent weeks and if we do that then we know we can get an excellent result.

"It's positive times for us in terms of how we're playing. The results recently have picked up but so have the performances.

"So we'll be going there really looking forward to the game."

Head to head

The clubs have met 14 times in the league. Exeter coming out on top six times, six draws and Stevenage the victors two times.

The last Stevenage victory was in April 2018, when now manager Alex Revell scored a brilliant hat trick to pause Exeter's promotion hunt.
