International Peace Day in Hitchin has been hailed as a 'wonderful' event.

North Herts Interfaith Forum recognised International Peace Day this morning [Tuesday, September 21] with a short event in the grounds of the Peace Garden at Paynes Park.

The non-denominational event featured readings, silent reflection and hanging of paper doves in the trees, bringing people together to ask for peace across the world.

Danny Pearson, NHDC Community Engagement Officer told Hitchin Nub News: "It was a wonderful event held in the heart of Hitchin.

"People were able to listen to readings and reflect on what's come before us and what's happening now.

"The hope, and work, towards international peace seems even more urgent in light of recent world events.

"Before the event ended we were invited to hang paper doves in the surrounding trees and catch up in the beautiful autumnal sunshine.

"It was great that the event was open to all and The North Herts Interfaith Forum hope to be able to hold a bigger event next year across the whole town."

International Peace Day in Hitchin was organised by Tilehouse Rotary Club, Inner Wheel and Hitchin Quakers.
