The Safer Neighbourhood Team that covers the rural areas surrounding Hitchin has welcomed a

new officer to the team PC Claire Ross, who is transferring from the Letchworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, replaces previous incumbent PC Johnie Streeter. PC Ross is an experienced local officer who is looking forward to being part of the rural team: "I have enjoyed my time in Letchworth but am now looking forward to a new challenge. "I grew up with the countryside on my doorstep and not far from the New Forest, a setting which founded a love of rural life. My grandparents worked in agriculture, so I am aware of many of the issues that affect rural communities, and I am looking forward to getting out and about and meeting local residents." PC Streeter covered the area for a few years and is well known amongst the rural communities. He is now moving on to take up a new position at headquarters. Commenting on his departure PC Streeter said: [I]"I have loved being part of the Hitchin Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team and feel very lucky to have had this area as my beat. "Not only did I get to see some stunning scenery every day, but I got to work closely with some great people in the community and within our partner agencies."
