The inspiring Hitchin Ladies Rugby Club have added their voices in celebrating International Women's Day.

Groups across the world are highlighting women's achievements and call for action on equality with Hitchin Ladies joining the millions of people across the globe bringing attention to the day.

The day is a global celebration hailing the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The event is also to raise awareness and call for accelerating gender parity.

"Happy International Women's Day!" the popular club posted on their Instagram page.

"We're celebrating all the incredible, strong, kickass women and girls, not just in our set up here at Hitchin RFC but all over the world.

"Raising the profile of women's rugby is more important now than ever - let's all continue to work together to drive the game forward and open up our sport to more awesome women and girls to experience."

Marked annually on March 8, International Women's Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness about women's equality lobby for accelerated gender parity fundraise for female-focused charities.
