A popular Hitchin pub gearing up to re-open next month has wished everyone a happy St Patrick's Day!

The Victoria Pub on Ickleford Road near Hitchin town centre has confirmed it will once again open its bar garden on Monday, April 12.

The legendary establishment, long hailed as one of Hitchin's finest pubs has sent a message to punters who can't wait to have a drink in its welcoming outdoor space.

In a Facebook post, the pub said: "Happy Paddy's Day!

"Who's missing a Guinness????

"If it's any consolation we haven't got any either, not a single barrel of beer in our cellar, never a sadder tale was told. It is having a deep spring clean though, ready to regime lots of lovely full barrels very soon.

"We know you're all missing the Craic as much as us, so here's a quick update as to where we're at:

"We do intend to open on Monday, April 12, if allowed of course. We will be opening our external areas all day, every day that week, serving burger from Bun Loving Criminals and @dirtydoughpizzaco"

The brilliant boozer also confirmed they will be taking bookings for diners via their app, with all those who have downloaded it the first to be notified.

They added: "There is still quite a lot to do this end, still some big decisions to make...so please bear with us, we're getting there, slowly but surely - watch this space and we'll be seeing you soon - Slante, Vic and Tom."

See you on April 12 down the Vic!
