Hitchin: The brilliant Chicken George feeds Saracens squad including England and Lions star Maro Itoje

By Layth Yousif 6th Jun 2021

An acclaimed Hitchin restaurant has been busy serving up succulent fayre for renowned sportspeople this week.

The brilliant Chicken George on Bancroft has been feeding Saracens rugby players.

Among the Saracens enjoying the mouth watering food was the world class England player Maro Itoje.

Predominantly a lock but also capable of playing at flanker, Maro has established himself as one of the best players in the world as he gears up for the Lions tour to South Africa.

Chicken George paid a visit to Saracens training ground on Friday to feed the squad.

Respected CG boss Chris Cheah has earned a name for his food near and far after running the company's first restaurant in Luton.

He told Hitchin Nub News: "It's nice to see our succulent food recognised by top sportspeople.

"We fed the whole squad including Mary, Owen Farrell, Jamie George, Elliot Daly, Vincent Koch, the Vunipola brothers Billy and Mako and Jackson Wray.

"Thanks to all at Saracens for having us."

Successful Chris has seen his food fast become a go-to for sportspeople who fancy a rare treat after all their hard work.

He also showed his caring side when offering free food to hungry children last year.[L]

The kind gesture was also picked up by England football striker [L]https://hitchin.nub.news/n/marcus-rashford-shares-hitchin-nub-news-story-on-chicken-george39s-offer-of-free-food-to-hungry-youngsters-to-his-35m-twitter-followers[L+]Marcus Rashford after Hitchin Nub News ran the story.
