Hitchin's talented rising star Alex Francis releases new single 'Run'

Highly-acclaimed Hitchin songwriter Alex Francis has been busy after releasing his new single 'Run' this month.

Talented Alex - now based in North London but originally hailing from Hitchin - first introduced himself in 2016 and has gone on to release three EP's and three singles. He has also collaborated and featured on the 2017 Melanie C single 'Hold On'.

Rising star Alex, has toured Europe with Stereophonics and Sting, performed at London's Hyde Park with Phil Collins plus played the Isle of Wight Festival twice and more recently toured his first ever headline shows in Germany and the UK and performed at the 2019 SXSW Festival in Austin, TX.

Prior to the Covid crisis Alex also had a spell playing and writing in New York as well as Nashville, and says he's been very lucky to have a supportive network of people in his hometown.

Following on from the success of 'All My Life', which came out to great acclaim in July of this year, "Run" is a dark and heartfelt musing on the complexities of a long-distance relationship and how far - literally and metaphorically - one is willing to go for that other special person.

Blending trademark acoustic guitars with dusky, reverb-soaked electrics under Alex's heartfelt lyrics and whiskey-soaked tone, "Run" is a fitting addition to a growing catalogue of original music from one of the UK's most credible new artists.

Alex says: "A long time writing partner of mine shared a fascinating story about a guy he knew here in the UK who had become romantically involved with a lady living in Australia.

"They had begun a long distance relationship, eventually taking it as far as a marriage whilst still living separately - the guy in question was holding out

on them being able to live together with two more years before retiring from work - it was all quite uncertain yet bound by their yearning for each other.

"It was this bold, brave, uncertain life to live all in the name of love. It is fascinating how far people will push their own boundaries in order to find happiness."
