[H1]HITCHIN: Storm Eunice update[H1]

The UK's second storm in a week, Storm Eunice, is making landfall this morning, with gusts of up to 90mph forecast.

The Met Office says that the extreme weather could bring one of the worst storms in our area for 30 years.

The Met Office has issued a new red warning for wind - the highest level - to cover London, the South East including Hitchin and parts of the east of England from 10am to 3pm.

Storm Eunice is set to hit Hitchin this Friday, with wind speeds set to increase dramatically as this extreme weather event approaches - which could be the most powerful in years.

As Hitchin Nub News has been reporting this week, strong gusts are set to blow in, with damage and disruption expected, amid fears of flying debris and falling trees.

The Met Office has issued amber weather warnings for Storm Eunice, which is forecast to arrive on Friday after forming across the Atlantic. The nation's weather forecaster is advising people to stay indoors with high winds set to batter our area.

People are urged to pay close attention to the weather forecast over the next two days and are urged to only travel on Friday if absolutely necessary.

It is also being advised that high sided vehicles and caravans, as well as motorbikes and bicycles should stay off the roads over the next few days.

Travellers are also asked to consider if their journey is necessary, with disruption also expected on rail lines from Hitchin to London.
