A NEW homes development named in tribute to EM Forster has opened for the first time to visitors this month.
Miller Homes at Forster Park in Stevenage , where 396 homes are being built as part of a wider development of 800 residential properties, was opened by the developer on Saturday (18 November).
The national housebuilder opened its on-site sales centre on the date, with the first homes – and the prices of them – released at the same time.
Forster Park has been chosen as the name of the overall scheme, located off North Road in Stevenage, to reflect the history and nostalgia of the novelist EM Forster whose childhood home, Rooks Nest House, is located close to the site of the development within the wider Forster Country area of Stevenage.
Gavin Jones, regional operations director for Miller Homes South Midlands, said: "Work has been progressing week-by-week at Forster Park and so we were all looking forward to welcoming our first visitors to our sales centre from 18th November.
"We have been able to release our first homes for sale at the development, and our on-site sales team will now be able to support our prospective customers by showing them our plans for the site.
"This includes the level of detail which goes into all our homes, as well as design features and sustainable approaches to our work, such as EV charging points to all properties and solar panels to many of the roofs of the homes we are building in Stevenage.
"Miller Homes is helping to protect the unbreakable legacy of EM Forster through not only the naming of our development, but also his work being a huge influence for the planned country park to surround the development, which is going to bring back many memories for Stevenage residents of how Forster himself would have been inspired by the local landscape."
As part of the wider development, Forster Park will include public open spaces in addition to the creation of a new 93-acre country park. The scheme will also deliver a new local centre and a primary school to accommodate for the additional housing within this part of Stevenage.
The first homes are expected to be ready for occupation in Spring 2024. Prices for the initial selection of homes released for sale on 18th November start at £386,000.
