After a string of sold-out performances in previous years, local performer Mat Jones returns to Hitchin this December with his acclaimed one-man production of A Christmas Carol — this time stepping up to the stage of Hitchin Town Hall for one night only.

Performed directly from the script Charles Dickens himself used during his legendary 19th-century readings, this production has been hailed as "meticulous, measured, authentic" (CharlesHutchPress). Jones, who both directs and performs the piece, brings to life every character — from Scrooge and Marley to the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future — in a spellbinding evening of live storytelling.

What began as a small, self-produced show has grown each year through word of mouth and sold-out audiences across the country. Now, after playing intimate venues in Hitchin, York, Cambridge, and Southwold, Jones returns to his hometown with a performance on a larger scale — while retaining the intimacy and magic that made his previous shows so beloved.
