'We're thrilled!' Two Hitchin after-school clubs receive £1,900 in grants from North Herts District Council

Two Hitchin after school clubs recently received grants totalling £1,900 at a virtual meeting of North Hertfordshire District Council's (NHDC) Hitchin Area Committee.
Hitchin Fun Club, an afterschool and holiday club based at Highbury Infant School, received a grant of £900. The club provides a safe, caring environment for children to play, explore, learn and engage in a variety of activities to further their development.
The grant will be used to purchase outdoor equipment and toys, a kiln, a projector and screen, as well as additional safety and hygiene equipment needed to adhere to Covid guidelines.
Lisa King, club treasurer, said: "We are extremely grateful to NHDC for their continued support of our club. This year, more than ever, the extra funding is much appreciated."
Strathmore Fun Club based at Strathmore School received £1000 to purchase outdoor toys, vehicles, games, sports equipment and Personal Protective Equipment for staff.
The club offer a varied programme of activities for children from four to 11 years old who attend a variety of schools in Hitchin.
Amanda Wright, manager of Strathmore fun club said: "We are thrilled to receive the funding and it is going to be a massive boost to us to be able to get new scooters, peddle carts and other outdoor equipment."
