Milford Lodge Care Home has been buzzing with excitement this summer thanks to the continued kindness — and creativity — of 7‑year‑old baker AJ Kutowaroo, whose weekly homemade treats have become a highlight for residents, families, and staff alike

AJ, who has been visiting Milford Lodge since he was a baby alongside his mum, Devina from the Engagement & Wellbeing Team, first captured everyone's hearts with his Toy Story‑inspired cupcakes, arriving dressed as Woody and sparking conversations, laughter, and plenty of nostalgia.

Since then, his imagination hasn't slowed down

🌟 A Season of Sweet Surprises

Over the past few weeks, AJ has returned with a series of themed bakes that have delighted residents

Blackberry cupcakes — made with fresh seasonal fruit, offering a delicious late‑summer flavour that residents praised for its homely, comforting taste.

Solar eclipse cakes — inspired by the recent celestial event, complete with dark icing, shimmering stars, and bright "sun" centres.

Spooky biscuits — his latest delivery on Monday 17 August, decorated with ghosts, cobwebs, and cheeky monster faces that brought smiles all around.

AJ shared how much these visits mean to him:

"I really enjoy delivering my bakes. Residents are getting used to seeing me now especially residents in Sycamore. One of the looked up at me, smiled and said "oh hello" like he remembered me. Families I have seen have said I was doing a good job. One of the swimming teachers said she saw me in the paper, so I hope other kids might have heard of what I've been up to & like to do something similar where they live."

His words reflect not only pride but a growing sense of community spirit — and the impact he's having is clear. Residents look forward to his visits, families appreciate the intergenerational connection, and staff admire his enthusiasm and creativity.
