The Arsenal U18 side's visit to Hitchin Town this weekend coincides with the full opening of the new Fishponds Road terracing.

Mark Burke's Canaries had been due to host an open day on Saturday, but cancelled the event when they took a call from the north London giants asking for a game - which will now mark the opening of the new terrace.

In a neat twist, Arsenal U18s were the visitors face years ago when the new Top Field floodlights were officially opened by a raft of former Arsenal players including Pat Rice.

Hitchin Town club secretary and club stalwart Roy Izzard said: "We are pleased to say that the new Fishponds Road terracing will be open for the Arsenal game on Saturday.

"We are very proud of the new look terracing and it is only because Hitchin supporters were so generous with their Crowdfunder donations that the project has been successfully completed.

"It is fitting Arsenal should be our first opponents with the new terracing as they were the team that officially opened our original floodlights and the replacement floodlights just a few seasons ago."

Why not head along to Top Field for the clash on Saturday morning - and see if you can spot the next big name to emerge from the Gunners famed academy.
