Witness appeal after distraction theft in Stevenage car park 

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a distraction theft in Stevenage.

It is reported that the suspect(s) told an elderly woman she had damaged her car. When she got out to look, her purse and mobile phone were taken from the front passenger seat.

PC Carl Webster, from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "Our enquires are continuing, and I am appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch.

"If you have a dash cam fitted and were driving in or out of the car park, or parked within it, during the times mentioned above, please check it as you may have recorded some crucial footage.

"The victim was parked in the top left-hand side of the car park as you enter, and near to the recycling and clothes banks.

"Additionally, if you saw anyone acting suspiciously around the car park at this time, particularly just before midday, please email me directly at [email protected]."
