A North Herts campaigner is inviting GP surgeries, pharmacies and local businesses to help spread small moments of kindness by adding short, uplifting quotes to prescription bags and other everyday places.
The idea began in Hitchin, where Katie Wilson handed out strips of positive messages to shoppers and shopkeepers. People paused, smiled, and often shared why a particular line resonated with them. Those reactions convinced her that a simple sentence, offered at the right moment, could make a real difference.
Katie is now encouraging surgeries and pharmacies across North Herts and Stevenage to consider trialling the idea. She hopes to see quotes printed on prescription bags, displayed on waiting‑room screens, added to till receipts, or even shared at railway stations.
"It's CBT on a bigger scale," she explains. "Everyone has mental health. A tiny message can interrupt a negative thought or give someone a lift when they need it most."
The proposal is deliberately easy to adopt. Most prescription bags are ordered pre‑printed, meaning a design change requires no extra work for staff. Screens and receipts already carry text, so adding a short, hopeful line is a small adjustment with the potential for a big emotional impact.
Katie has also been leaving quotes in public places over the Christmas period, " I know what it's like to struggle over Christmas, I've been there myself ".
"It's a tough world," she says. "If a few words on a bag or a screen can help someone feel seen or supported, that's worth doing."
She is now inviting local surgeries, pharmacies and businesses to get in touch if they would like sample wording or help exploring a trial.
