Police have released an image of a man they would like to identify following a theft from a shop in Hitchin.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm on Tuesday 20 August at Waitrose on Bedford Road.

It is reported that the suspect took two bottles of spirits, storing them in his trousers before leaving the store with no attempts to pay.

PCSO Cynthia Combe said: "Our enquiries are continuing, and I am urging anyone with information to please contact police.

"We are releasing this image because we believe the individual pictured may have been in the area at the time and could have information to assist our investigation.

"Is this you, or do you recognise the man pictured? Please e-mail me at [email protected]"
