Shuttleworth's Military Air Show will return this August following the sell-out success of the Bedfordshire attraction's Summer Air Show.

The event will take place at Old Warden on Saturday, August 29, bringing together historic warbirds, modern military aircraft and activities for families.

Among the headline attractions will be the Royal Air Force Chinook role demonstration team. Its display will highlight the helicopter's versatility, including its use for transporting troops, evacuations and other operations.

A Westland Lynx AH.7 is also scheduled to appear. Originally used by the British Army Air Corps for carrying troops and anti-tank operations, it is one of only two examples of the aircraft flying in civilian hands.

The Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress "Sally B" – the only airworthy B-17 outside North America – will return to Shuttleworth following its appearance at the Festival of Flight.

North American P-51D Mustangs "Little Rebel" and "Moonbeam McSwine" will make their Shuttleworth debuts, while Marcin Kubrak's Douglas A-26 Invader is also due to appear.

Visiting aircraft will be joined by planes from Shuttleworth's own collection, representing military aviation during the First and Second World Wars.

These include the Sopwith Triplane, Gloster Gladiator, Westland Lysander and Supermarine Spitfire Vc.

Away from the flying displays, a Military Camp area will feature vehicles, re-enactments and historic machinery.

The Clayton and Shuttleworth Heritage Team will demonstrate working machinery, while volunteers will show visitors how a Bofors anti-aircraft gun was operated.

Children's activities will include a STEM-focused Discovery Zone and a free funfair.

"We're looking forward to another exciting day of flying displays and showcasing some truly remarkable aircraft, both from our own collection and visiting operators."

The show follows Shuttleworth's Summer Air Show, held on July 25, which sold out.
