Hitchin: A well-known clothes store in our town centre has closed for good - as Nub News has been reporting.

The Joules store on Bancroft has now ceased trading.

The clothing company founded by Tom Joules, which sells clothing and homeware products inspired by British country lifestyles on High Streets up and down the country shut its Hitchin branch over the weekend - despite categorical denials from the Joules press team to Hitchin Nub News only a few short months ago.

As Nub News has been reporting, the parent firm of fashion retailer Joules warned the company was on the verge of collapse, putting 1,600 jobs at risk - including, Nub News understands, at least six full and part time roles in Hitchin.

Joules said of its Hitchin shop: "This store is closing, the last day to shop in store will be Saturday, January 28."
