HITCHIN: The cold snap is set to result in the coldest night of the winter so far - and could culminate with snow falls later this week.

After an unseasonably warm start to 2022, temperatures are set to drop considerably this evening.

With wind chill factored into the equation, forecasters are expecting a low of -5.

Later this week it is expected a few hours of snow to dust Hitchin and surrounding areas.

Light snow is set to scatter across our town on Friday morning, as temperatures fall to 1C, which will feel like -3C due to cold gusts of 20mph wind.

The snow will fall between 6am-12pm on Friday.

Rain will then ensure the snow doesn't stick at 3pm.
