The Conservative Group Leaders at Central Bedfordshire Council and North Hertfordshire Council, Cllr Richard Wenham and Cllr Ralph Muncer, have written to Alistair Strathern MP warning that people across the Hitchin Constituency will "have less money in their pocketsas a result of the Budget announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer last month.

Cllr Muncer, who represents Codicote and Kimpton on North Hertfordshire Council said:

"As the eyes and ears of Rachel Reeves in Parliament, Mr Strathern will no doubt have been involved in formulating a Budget that will leave people across the constituency, from Langford to Kimpton, Hexton to Great Ashby and everywhere in-between worse off".

"Labour promised not to increase taxes on hard-working people, but in their first budget they have done the exact opposite by imposing a £25 billion tax on working people, which will result in Hitchin households having less disposable income".

Our rural communities are also under threat by Labour, not just with their plans to concrete over the Green Belt, but the imposition of a Family Farm Tax will have a devastating impact on local farmers, all whilst leading to higher food prices in the shops and reduced Food Security."
