December update from Hertfordshire Police
Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
More than 12,000 hours of additional patrols have been carried out and 157 arrests have been made as part of an initiative to tackle anti-social behaviour and serious violence in hotspot areas across Hertfordshire.
"Ask For Angela"
Officers have conducted several plain-clothed test visits across Hertfordshire to educate local licensed premises about 'Ask For Angela'.
Ask For Angela is a national campaign that is used by bars and other venues to keep people safe, by using the codename 'Angela' to signify that they feel vulnerable or unsafe.
People can discreetly seek help by approaching venue staff and asking them for Angela – this will indicate to staff that they require help with their situation, and a trained member of staff will be able to assist them.
This could be through reuniting them with a friend, seeing them to a taxi, calling venue security or contacting the police.
New race forum for young people in Hertfordshire
Young Black people from across Hertfordshire are taking part in a new initiative to help address racial disparities in policing.
More than 25 teenagers attended the first sessions of the new Young People's Race Inclusion Forum.
The project, set up by Hertfordshire Constabulary with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) Services for Young People, aims to better understand young Black perspectives on policing in the county.
