The weather in Hitchin might not be tropical this week - but that hasn't stopped ice-cream lovers flocking back to our town's popular gelato shop!

Fabio's Gelato's on Hermitage Road has welcomed back delighted punters as the easing of lockdown continues.

The lack of heatwave temperatures hasn't deterred families on the hunt for mouth-watering, quality ice cream made by Fabio Vincenti, known by many as the 'Willy Wonka of ice cream'.

Owner, Fabio told Hitchin Nub News: "Our best seller has been our new cherry cola.

"We've had plenty of parents with excited children visit us during half term as a treat and were so happy we were back - and we are too!"

To mark their return, talented Fabio has also been cooking up a storm with celebratory cakes for customers.

"A few customers have posted to our page about the gelato celebration cakes they have picked up," he explained, adding: "The feedback has been great.

"A selection of testimonials include: 'Thanks so much for the yummy gelato cake, it went down a treat!' and 'Amazing birthday cake for my daughter today. Thank you so much it was delicious!!'"

As a mini heatwave is expected later this month, what is next for the brilliant Willy Wonka, sorry, Fabio...

"Jammy Dodger biscuit flavour," he replies, quick as a flash.
