The A1M in Hertfordshire is closed northbound between J6 near (Welwyn) and J7 near (Stevenage) due to a fallen tree on the carriageway.

There has also been a collision as a result of this incident. 

Emergency services are on scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also in attendance.

Diversion Route

Road users are advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol on road signs.

  • From the A1M J6 northbound exit slip road , enter the B197 Digswell Hill/Welwyn Bypass Road roundabout and take the 2nd exit onto the A1000 Welwyn Bypass Road.
  • Continue along the A1000 to the A1000 Welwyn Bypass roundabout.
  • At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A1000.
  • Continue on the A1000 to the J6 northbound A1M entry slip roundabout.
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit on to the B197 Great London Road.
  • Continue on the B197 through Woolmer Green and Knebworth.
  • At the London Road/Hertford Road roundabout take the 1st exit and continue on the B197 London Road to the B197 Monkswood Way/London Road roundabout.
  • Take the 3rd exit onto the B197 to the A602/B197 roundabout.
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A602 BroadHall Way.
  • Continue along the A602 to the A602/A1072 roundabout.
  • At this roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A602.
  • From the A602 take the 3rd exit at the junction roundabout and rejoin the A1M at the J7 northbound entry slip.
