After more than seven years at the helm, Tom Hardy has announced he will be stepping down as Hitchin's Town Centre Manager this October.

During his time in the role, Tom has been a driving force behind the town's success, helping to support local businesses, energise community life, and navigate major challenges — including the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. From organising high-profile events to launching initiatives that boosted footfall and community pride, his impact has been widely felt.

Leading the Visit Hitchin team, Tom's behind-the-scenes work has helped ensure the smooth running of everything from town centre maintenance to communications and promotions. While much of his work took place out of the spotlight, its results have been front and centre in Hitchin's vibrancy and resilience.

Speaking about his departure, Tom said:

"This has been so much more than a job for me — it's truly been a privilege. I've worked with hundreds of amazing businesses and individuals, and I've never felt such genuine connection to a place as I have with Hitchin. I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved together."

Tom will stay on until October to support a smooth transition and help prepare the town for the all-important festive season.
