A REGIONAL firm of investment advisors, recently honoured for their specialist money management skills, showed how to put their best foot forward in a local fundraising event.

But Lyndhurst Financial Management fell just one step short of defending the title they won last year when they took part in the Letchworth Garden Hospice Care Community Cup.

The six-a-side football tournament brings teams from local businesses and clubs together for a day of fun and friendly football to raise funds for the hospice!

Lyndhurst won the inaugural conest in 2023, an event played out in blistering heat which became a battle of attrition as the sun beat down on competitors all day. The weather was somewhat different this year with rain falling heavily in the opening games. Competing in the league stage was brought to a halt by a welcome barbeque and burger for lunch before concluding in the afternoon to decide the final positions for the semi-finals and the final.

Lyndhurst had dug in during the league phase to finish second in the table behind LDD and played Greenacres in the semifinal. In a competitively fought match against a well-organised side, Lyndhurst managed to come out on top and reach the final for the second year in a row.

LDD took a two goal lead in the final before Lyndhurst struck back with a freekick late on. However, the final whistle came before any chance of an equaliser and LDD were worthy champions on the day.

Lyndhurst operations director Adam Cook said: "It was once again an enjoyable day and extremely well organised. Thanks to Harry and the team at Garden House Hospice Care for inviting us. We understand the event raised £3,300 and counting for the hospice."
