In a groundbreaking effort to promote mental health and provide a supportive community for men facing mental health challenges, 'For Men To Talk' is thrilled to announce the launch of its walking group in Hitchin, starting this Friday (January 5).
The walking group, a new addition to 'For Men To Talk's diverse range of support initiatives, aims to combine the benefits of physical activity and open conversations to foster both mental and physical well-being. The walks will take place every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, commencing at 5:30 pm outside St Mary's Church, Hitchin, opposite the Memorial Fountain.
Research has shown that walking and talking can have profound effects on mental health, providing a unique and comfortable setting for men to share their experiences. 'For Men To Talk' believes in the power of community and the positive impact of these activities on mental health.
Founder of 'For Men To Talk,' Luke Newman, expresses his enthusiasm for the new walking group: "Our mission has always been to create spaces where men can openly discuss their mental health challenges. The walking group in Hitchin offers a dynamic and refreshing way for men to connect, share, and support each other while enjoying the benefits of outdoor activities."
'For Men To Talk' founded four years ago is a peer support group designed specifically for men facing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and grief. The organisation has already established physical sit-down group meetings, virtual meetings, walking meetings, fishing meetings, and Autism support meetings in various locations, including Sandy, Biggleswade, Bedford, Potton, and Lower Caldecote in Bedfordshire; Gamlingay and St Neots in Cambridgeshire; and Stockport and Marple in Cheshire.
The Hitchin walking group is part of 'For Men To Talk's commitment to expanding its reach and providing diverse avenues for men to connect and share their experiences.
