Hitchin-linked charities will run the newly finished Christmas grotto in the town square over the festive season.

Each of the charities above has the grotto for a weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

The grotto is open 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm. They are providing their own Father Christmas, helpers/ elves, and small gifts to hand out.

Mark Shadbolt kindly offered this unit to Visit Hitchin (Hitchin BID) so they could provide the town with a Christmas grotto, and the charities takes home all the money collected.

The price is set at £4 per child.

Visit Hitchin would also like to thank D Signs for their help with the window of the grotto, the local businesses that were able to lend decorations for the grotto and give a special shout out to the Market Theatre for the materials they were able to supply us with.

The Visit Hitchin team told Hitchin Nub News that:

"It really was a town wide effort to get this grotto open for the people of Hitchin and beyond"

"We are delighted that we've been able to add a little extra Christmas magic this year with the introduction of this new grotto".

"We are looking forward to working with our amazing local charities and, of course, the big guy himself... Father Christmas!"
