Greensward set to perform at Hitchin Churchyard Day
By James Denselow 22nd May 2026
A five-piece folk-rock band inspired by some of Britain's best-loved acts will be performing at this year's Churchyard Day in Hitchin.
Greensward will take to the stage at St Mary's Church on Saturday 6 June as part of the free family-friendly event celebrating the Churchyard area and its independent businesses.
The band draw inspiration from iconic names including Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Richard Thompson, Linda Thompson, Lindisfarne, The Waterboys and Jethro Tull.
According to the band, they "prize melody and harmony" while bringing classic folk-rock music from across the last 50 years to life through strong instrumental performances, driving rhythms and layered vocals.
Churchyard Day will run from 10am to 4pm and will feature a packed programme of entertainment and activities, including live music, alpacas, historical re-enactments, children's entertainment, food stalls and tours of the church.
Greensward's performance at St Mary's Church is expected to take place from 4pm to 6pm, with the event helping raise funds for church repairs.
