Yesterday marked the start of National Volunteers' Week.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is proud to have dedicated Police Support Volunteers who give up their spare time to provide vital support to police officers and staff.

Members of the public give generously of whatever time they can spare, to help keep their community safe. 

There are a variety of different roles that support the constabulary including:

• Administrative roles
• Cadet leaders
• Chaplains
• Historical society support
• Neighbourhood Policing Team support
• RAPPAW team
• Role players
• Scientific services support
• Special Constables

Volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds and have a real mix of skills and interests.

Chief Superintendent Luke Mooney, who oversees the People and Workforce Development team, said: "Our volunteers are brilliant people who want to help the constabulary and give back to the local community. Their selflessness does not go unnoticed, and I'd like to say a huge thank you to all our Police Support Volunteers. 

"The time you give to the constabulary is invaluable and allows officers to focus on their frontline duties and ensure we provide the best possible service to victims.

"We have a range of volunteering roles available. Whatever your circumstances, we can find the right volunteering role for you!"
