Hertfordshire Police thank volunteers as force marks National Volunteers' Week
By James Denselow 5th Jun 2026
Hertfordshire Constabulary has paid tribute to the hundreds of volunteers who help support policing across the county as part of National Volunteers' Week.
The annual campaign celebrates the contribution of volunteers across the UK, and the force says its Police Support Volunteers play a vital role in helping officers and staff keep communities safe.
Volunteers undertake a wide range of roles across the Constabulary, including administrative support, Police Cadet leadership, chaplaincy services, historical society work, scientific services support, role playing for training exercises, and working with the RAPPAW team.
The force's volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a diverse range of skills, experience and interests to support policing across Hertfordshire.
Community Safety Manager Jamie Bartlett praised their dedication and commitment.
He said: "Our volunteers' selflessness will never go unnoticed within the Constabulary. It takes a fine person to give up their valuable time in order to help with keeping our communities safer.
"This time that they give ensures that we are able to give the best possible service to victims of crime and often their roles offer important morale boosts for our officers, such as the RAPPAW dogs and our Police Chaplains.
"There are many volunteering opportunities within the force. If you would like to help make a difference then please do get in contact."
To recognise the contribution of volunteers, Hertfordshire Constabulary is hosting a special awards event at its headquarters in Welwyn Garden City this week.
The force is encouraging residents interested in volunteering opportunities to get in touch and find out more about the range of roles available.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can email [email protected] or visit the Hertfordshire Constabulary website for further information.
