Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) teams and individuals were recognised this month at an awards ceremony in London.

The King's Trust London and Home Counties Delivery Partner Awards saw Ben Parker-Bratt and Brian Leadley from the Stevenage North Herts (SNH) Team win the Unsung Hero Award. Ben and Brian were recognised for consistently going above and beyond for the young people on their King's Trust Team Programme and demonstrating unwavering dedication and care. They even managed to find a work placement for a member of the Team at a forge, which has led to them being offered a full-time role.

In addition, the Watford Team were nominated for the Most Creative/Ambitious Delivery Award, while Lily Harper from the Hemel Hempstead Team was recognised within the Rising Star Award category.

The King's Trust Team Programme is a 12-week personal development course that helps unemployed 16-25 year olds. HFRS team leaders provide support and guidance, helping team members to develop new skills and work experience, which will benefit them in their future careers, such as writing a cv, interview & presentation skills and work experience.

Katy Carroll, HFRS King's Trust Delivery Partner Manager said: "We were thrilled to receive the nominations and especially excited that Ben and Brian won the Unsung Hero Award. To see our guys walk up and receive the award was fantastic. It's a testament to their unwavering commitment and selfless dedication. Their recognition highlights the incredible work being done behind the scenes to support and empower young people in Hertfordshire."

Councillor Ajanta Hilton, Executive Member for Public Health & Community Safety at Hertfordshire County Council said: "The King's Trust Team Programme has an incredible impact on young people in Hertfordshire. It's wonderful to see our teams being recognised for all the hard work and effort they put in."
