Police have given an update on the collision in Hitchin this morning which caused large tailbacks on the A505.

An accident occurred between a Fiat and a lorry near to the Highlander Pub.

Long queues of traffic formed in either direction but Herts police have now confirmed the area is back to normal.

In a statement to Nub News officers confirmed that they: "Were called at around 8.20am today following a collision in Upper Tilehouse Street, Hitchin.

"A Fiat 500 and a lorry were involved and the road was left blocked.

"No one was reported to have been injured.

"The carriageway was cleared by 8.50am."
