Over 1,000 adults raced this year's Hitchin 10K with the race won by Alexander Nelson, of Cambridge and Coleridge AC, in 33 minutes 11 seconds.

The top three racers all finished under 34 minutes reflecting the growing competition around the race.

The first woman over the line was North Herts Road Runners, Katie Harbon, in a time of 37 minutes and 11 second.

The first Hitchin Hare to cross the finish line was Wilf Wardle in 35 minutes.

The ever popular race saw record numbers of entrants with many stuck on the waiting list - next year promises to have the largest capacity to date.

Over 150 children ran the "golden mile" as the next generation of Hitchin runners learn to love the sport.

The race's organiser, Jake Amos, gave a shout out to "all of the Marshalls and volunteers who gave up their time to make the event possible. It was brilliant to see so many people come out and support the yearly event and bringing people into Hitchin to enjoy what the Town has to offer".
