Hitchin care home celebrates Holi
By Eliana Ferraris 4th Mar 2026
Residents at Milford Lodge care home were immersed in a burst of colour and culture as they celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi with traditional dancers, vibrant music, and a joyful colour run in the garden.
The celebration began with a lively performance from visiting dancers, whose swirling skirts, rhythmic steps, and bright costumes brought the spirit of India's "Festival of Colours" to life. Residents clapped along, some joining in with gentle movements from their seats, while others enjoyed learning about the meaning behind the dances and the traditions of Holi.
The highlight of the day was a playful colour run adapted specially for residents. Staff and volunteers guided participants through a safe, accessible route where they were showered with bursts of pink, yellow, and blue powder. Laughter echoed across the garden as residents, families, and team members embraced the chance to get messy and celebrate together.
The Engagement team Eliana Ferraris & Devina Kutowaroo said " The celebration was designed to bring joy, movement, and cultural connection to residents. Holi is all about togetherness, seeing our residents light up with colour and laughter was incredibly special."
