Witness appeal after Hitchin assault 

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Hitchin.

The incident happened at around 315am on Christmas Day when it is reported that an altercation took place in the town centre. 

A man in his twenties was reportedly assaulted on Market Place, sustaining two jaw fractures which required urgent surgery.

Detective Constable Lea Pennington, from the North Herts Local Crime Unit, said: "Our enquiries are progressing as we continue to establish the full circumstances around this incident.
