HITCHIN: The impact of Covid on staff has resulted in train timetables being slashed in our area.

Great Northern and Thameslink have confirmed they will run reduced train timetables from Tuesday [January 4] until further notice.

The restrictions come after the crippling impact of Covid on staff sickness including drivers has seen Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) - the franchise that runs Thameslink, Great Northern and Southern - to reveal reduced services on weekdays.

GTR says a reduced timetable will help ensure a more reliable service and fewer last-minute cancellations.

Commuters are advised to check train times before they travel with GTR claiming that the changes will lead to a more reliable service by cutting frustrating last-minute cancellations.
