Hitchin driver banned after leaving motorcyclist with serious injuries following crash

A man from Hitchin has been banned from driving after a crash left a motorcyclist with serious injuries including a broken leg.

Paul Lyden, aged 43, of Mowbray Gardens, Hitchin pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving following the incident at around 1pm on 25 June 2023.

Lyden appeared at Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 22 May where he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving and having a faulty tyre.

This followed an incident where a Volkswagen Golf and a motorcyclist were in collision on London Road in #Langley. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, suffered serious injuries including a broken leg.

Lyden was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £633 and ordered to pay a victim service charge of £253 and costs of £85.
