Have you visited the wonderful British Schools Museum on Queen Street recently?
British School Museum is a local gem of heritage that is largely kept alive and well through local gems of volunteers and helpers of all sorts – and they're always welcoming volunteers, be it in their collections space, maintenance of their iconic buildings, or even with helping visiting schools understand the site.
So, why not save the following dates and get set for the brilliant British Schools Museum summer events
Every Wednesday British Schools Museum holds its pre-schooler story-telling session at 1045am, which is free!
Every Friday BSM hosts its Pre-Schooler Gardening Club where, for £3 at 11am, children can help grow, learn about, and play with plants and much more
The British Schools Museum has its usual Live like a Victorian Child coming up this Saturday (June 29) as well as August 5 – the same format of roleplay.
On Friday, July 7 between and 12pm and 2pm, BSM will have a Toy Sale Bring and Buy in our Yard.
On July 27 BSM will have an evening talk by a local speaker, Bill Lindsay, on his famous ancestor.
On August 6 BSM will have a Summer Afternoon Garden Tea Party between 2pm and 4pm.
British Schools Museum say: "We also have our much loved Summer Crafts returning in the summer - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 10am - 12pm in the Monitorial Schoolroom which runs every week August 1 - August 24. Recommended for children aged 4-11 yrs. The theme is 'Where the Wild Things Are'.
"On August 9 through to August 11, we'll be running 3 acting workshops for kids using material from Charles Dickens' classic Oliver."
1pm - 130pm 3-5 year olds: £10 total for all three sessions,
130pm - 2.30pm: 6 year olds upwards: £15 total for all three sessions
