Hitchin Festival ends with “Once upon A Hitchin”

By James Denselow 31st Jul 2025

The ever popular Hitchin Festival ends its run of over a month's worth of events across the town with a "magical evening" tonight (Thursday 31st July) at Hitchin library.

Over 100 events celebrated the town's vibrant arts and culture scene.

It began with a lively "Hitchin Creative Day" on 28 June and continued with orchestral concerts, lunchtime recitals, outdoor theatre, comedy nights, children's activities, and heritage walks.

Highlights included performances by the Hitchin Symphony Orchestra, a production of Twelfth Night at the Queen Mother Theatre, and a dedicated Fringe Fest that showcased new talent in music, magic, and performance.

Art lovers explored the town's popular Art Trail, which turned local shops into pop-up galleries, and visited exhibitions at the North Herts Museum, including a special display of illustrations by Horrible Histories artist Martin Brown.

Families enjoyed bug hunts, storytelling sessions, and eco-friendly workshops, while music fans were treated to headline acts like Ocean Colour Scene and James Bay at the Priory Park Series. With its most extensive programme yet, the 2025 festival was a true celebration of Hitchin's creative spirit.

Join "Once Upon A Hitchin" from 6.30-8.30pm as Hertfordshire's finest authors bring their fiction and poetry to life, live!

Tickets: £5, available from Hitchin festival Box Office.
