The Environment Agency has issued more than 170 flood warnings across England following the heavy rain and snow that has hit the country over the past few days.

Whilst none of these are for Hitchin there are some "flood alerts" in place for the town.

A flood alert is the first level of warning that can be issued and indicates possible flooding for low-lying areas, especially near rivers, streams, or coastal areas.

The alert encourages residents to "be prepared" and many will be considering how hard parts of the town were hit by flooding in 2024.
