Here at Hitchin Nub News we're fascinated by old photographs of our town.

Thanks to Hitchin's brilliant North Herts Museum on Brand Street we've been fortunate enough to share four amazing images of town and residents stretching back to 1881.

The evocative shots including a stunning picture of the bookshop at Hitchin railway station.

It's the detail that intrigues - just look at how many newspapers, books and periodicals are on sale.

In our gallery with iconic shots that were included in last year's Frozen in Time exhibition at the museum, we can also see the front of a fruiterer and floristry shop in Hitchin in the late 19th century.

Other images include Hexton postwoman Katherine Francis as well as another Hitchin shop taken around 1900.

We can't wait to visit the museum again and resume our regular Facebook live videos and Rewind features.
