With lockdown set to end at midnight tonight, Tuesday, many festive events will now be taking place in Hitchin - not least, the town's Christmas Market.

The eagerly-awaited Hitchin Christmas Market will now be operating for three weeks from Thursday, December 3 to Tuesday, December 22.

Tireless town centre boss Tom Hardy told Hitchin Nub News: "It's so important to shop local this Christmas, so, with lockdown ending, why not visit Hitchin's Christmas Market from Thursday, while also taking in our brilliant independent stores."

The market will offer plenty of food stalls, as well as mulled wine, luxury products and stocking fillers are all set to be on offer by some of the town's renowned independent shops who have signed up.

Initially, the log cabin Christmas Chalets in Market Place were set to start trading on November 24.

However, due to the second lockdown of 2020, the dates had to be pushed back by organisers at Hitchin BID.

The Christmas Market chalets are being offered to Hitchin Town Centre businesses at a subsidised rate.
