A 12 hour weather warning covering Hitchin and North Herts has been issued by the Met Office this weekend as heavy rain is expected to hit our area - which could cause power cuts and travel disruption.

The yellow weather warning is in place from midday on Sunday (September 19) through until midnight.

Heavy showers may lead to localised flooding and disruption to transport, which follows Tuesday's torrential rain the Met Office said.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings," the nation's weather forecaster explained.

"Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

"Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses."
