Hitchin: I'm lucky enough to have been gifted two teams at birth so let's spread the love not hate says Fabio

Hitchin's 'Willy Wonka of Ice Cream' has been celebrating this week after Italy's Euro 2020 victory over England on Sunday.

Family man and passionate football lover Fabio Vincenti has been spreading the love in the aftermath of the rancour and disturbances before and after the showpiece final at Wembley.

The popular owner of Fabio's Gelato on Hermitage Road posted a heartwarming picture of him and his young daughter in Italian shirts after the Azzuri's triumph 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Speaking to Hitchin Nub News, Fabio said: "I was lucky enough to have been gifted two teams at birth [England and Italy].

"It has been sad to see people acting like that during a time we should be celebrating and enjoying the moment.

"I thought it would be an easy game to watch knowing either outcome was a win, but it was harder to watch than a normal game.

"I was gutted to see it turn to penalties which is never a great way to end a game."

Penalty misses by Marcus Rashford, Jason Sancho and Bukayo Saka prompted disgusting racist abuse in the aftermath of the match.

Addressing the appalling racism posted on social media after the game, Fabio echoed all right-minded people in condemning the abuse, saying: "The backlash after the game needs to be stamped out of football and in society - why can't people just share the love instead?"
