Former Priory School student Jack Wilshere is back training with Premier League giants Arsenal.

The 29-year-old former England international, who made his debut for the Gunners as a 16-year-old, has been working hard at the club's training ground, London Colney this week.

The former Whitehill School pupil has been without a club since a short-term deal with Bournemouth ended last season.

Kind-hearted Wilshere, who has always stayed close to his roots, once donated an Arsenal shirt to the Priory School on Bedford Road, which still hangs proudly in the canteen.

The humble star, whose world class performance for Arsenal against Pep Guardiola's Barcelona in the Champions League back in 2011 set him on the course for super-stardom before injuries stalled his momentum, has consistently been a big backer of local causes in Hitchin.

Not least when he sent a personal video to brave Hattie Brattan to help boost her fight against a rare form of cancer.

The former Priory pupil showed his caring side by reaching out to send a heartfelt message - via Nub News - to brave Hattie and Arsenal sister club Hitchin Belles FC who were fundraising for their pal.

Now it will be Hattie and her teammates rooting for Jack on his return to Arsenal's training ground - with Wilshere bidding to keep fit while he looks for another club.

Wilshere is also aiming to start his coaching badges that will one day hopefully see him become a top level manager.

No wonder Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said this week: "We all love Jack, we're happy to have him around and he is a big part of our history."
