A Hitchin local and his band released their new album last week after their latest single was played on BBC Introducing Sussex & Surrey.

Night Thieves, featuring Hitchin resident Rick Hunter-Burns, released their latest album entitled 'Metaxis' last Friday after their latest single 'Home' was played on the radio the day before.

Established in 2017, the band have previously released three EPs - Battle Cry in 2020, Spiral in 2021 and Polarity in 2024 - and have more than 1,800 monthly listeners on Spotify.

The alt-metal group said that the inspirations behind the new album stem from Greek philosophy and the idea of "existing between two worlds".

They said: "The songs express human nature as a dynamic force and navigating through emotions and experiences constantly in motion.

"The third single, 'Home', focuses on that feeling of not fitting in or when you are lost and wanting to find somewhere you feel yourself or at peace.

"It symbolises belonging and connection. Often we feel [home is] something or somewhere specific, when it is something carried within.

"This song's message is that home is what you make it."

The band originally met in London and since then Mr Hunter-Burns has moved to Hitchin.

They have played in Hitchin twice and said that they "loved it" and can't wait to play the new album material live.

They continued: "We hope that everyone can find something within the album they can relate to, whether it's listening to the album as a whole or finding individual songs to connect with.

"We are so proud of this album and the diverse range of songs on it, so we feel it has something for everyone!"

Night Thieves' next performance will be as a supporting act for Phoenix Lake in London on April 2.
