Affinity Water works on Nightingale Road have caused delays for drivers in Hitchin this week.

Essential utility repair and maintenance works on Nightingale Road will last until Friday, November 10 after starting on Tuesday.

Temporary traffic lights have been installed, causing congestion on Nightingale Road leading to Hitchin train station.

Affinity Water said: "We are currently carrying out essential maintenance in your area, this is on-going work to improve our service – usually there will be little disruption to road users during these types of works which can include stop tap replacements, metre fits, leak detection and fixes among others."

However, repairs on the road next to Hitchin's Audi dealership has caused traffic congestion while the work takes place, with the works also close to Hitchin's McDonalds and SPAR garage on Nightingale Road.

Two-way signals are in place as the work continues.
