Update: Hitchin motorists should be warned about traffic delays in our town today, Monday (August 14).

UK Power Networks currently have a four-way traffic light system operating on the busy Bedford Road at the Redhill Road roundabout. Work started over the weekend and has led to long delays at the start of the working week.

Nub News has contacted UP Power Networks regarding the works that they are undertaking in the area and how long residents and motorists can expect it to last.

UK Power Networks told Nub News: "Our engineers needed to complete an emergency underground cable repair in the carriageway and pavement in Redhill Road, Hitchin, to restore power to a street light.

"Temporary traffic lights are in place to safely carry out this work, which is progressing well and we aim to finish sooner than the scheduled date which was Friday.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Keep up to date with any changes via the Hertfordshire County Council and National Highways website, who will keep residents posted if something changes.

Nub News also suggest you check any up-to-date traffic and travel information on the day to avoid any uneccesary delays.
